The Richard Mille RM UP-01 takes the title over Bulgari’s Octo Finissimo Ultra.
While watchmaking proves itself to be a creative process that celebrates differentiation through design and technology, leading brands come together to compete for the common goal of breaking boundaries. Earlier this year, Bulgari made a splash in the watch world by releasing the Octo Finissimo Ultra as the world’s thinnest mechanical watch. In great fashion, the luxury watchmakers at Richard Mille quietly worked behind the scenes with the specialists at Ferrari on a special project that nobody knew about. Richard Mille is now proud to present the RM UP-01 Ferrari as the new World’s Thinnest Mechanical Watch, measuring in at a thickness of only 1.75mm.
The all-new RM UP-01 Ferrari features a 51mm case crafted completely from lightweight Grade 5 Titanium, achieving a .05mm slimmer design from Bulgari’s previous record-breaking Octo Finissimo Ultra. A futuristic dial layout beautifully displays Ferrari’s prancing horse just below the open tourbillon, highlighting its extensive functions through a subtly minimalistic design. While twin-turbocharged V8 and naturally-aspirated V12 engines drive Ferrari models, the RM UP-01 Ferrari generates its power from a newly engineered in-house RMUP-01 manual-winding movement. The complex caliber from Richard Mille accurately powers its hours, minutes, seconds, and selector functions. The titanium-covered back case includes commemorative engravings that signify the special 150-piece release from Richard Mille x Ferrari. Keeping its theme lightweight and minimal, Richard Mille fits the new Ferrari-inspired timepiece with a thin black rubber strap. The all-new Richard Mille RM UP-01 Ferrari is currently available through an authorized dealer with a price tag of $1,888,000.
