There is a fine line between the virtual world and reality, but in today’s world, sometimes that line is broken.
Volkswagen first announced the Vision Gran Turismo concept as a virtual vehicle for the video game “Gran Turismo” on May 26. Now, in a press release issued today, the German automaker has unveiled a physical concept car for the virtual concept at the annual GTI festival at Wörthersee, Austria- the GTI Roadster concept . Yes, this car is a GTI, and is arguably the most spectacular one ever conceived.
Powering this aggressive-looking GTI is a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine capable of producing 503 hp and 413 lb-ft of torque. This power is sent to the 4MOTION all-wheel drive system through a seven-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission. With all of this power combined, the GTI Roadster can sprint from 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds, with a top speed of 192 mph. To put it simply, the power this car can produce is just as aggressive as its appearance.

Inside, passengers will be placed in a dual carbon fiber monocoque, which provides both safety and rigidity. The two race-style bucket seats are separated by an open bar that extends from the rear to the front, with a fire extinguisher underneath. While the GTI Roadster’s interior may sound very sport, and it is, Alcantara covering the seats and steering wheel adds a hint of luxury to the cabin.
While the production of a physical version of the Volkswagen GTI Roadster may never happen, those who own Gran Turismo 6 can get behind the wheel of the virtual version starting mid-June.
