Not many auto manufacturers will create a concept car just for a video game. Even fewer video games will take someone’s personal car and create a virtual version of it. However, when you have Mercedes-Benz and the developers of the Gran Turismo series, Polyphony Digital , all of this can easily happen.
Mercedes-Benz was approached by the Gran Turismo developers and asked if they would design a special car for the sixth installment in the video game’s series, according to Leno in the video provided below. Mercedes took them up on the offer and the Vision Gran Turismo concept car was created. Not only could this concept be seen at recent car shows, it can be virtually driven.
Another collaboration that was touched upon in the video was the one between Jay Leno and Gran Turismo. When Polyphony Digital visited his garage, they were amazed at Leno’s 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado that has been beefed up to produce over 1,000 hp. They were so amazed that they digitized the car and put it in their video game.
