Back on February 25, 2016, Hennessey Performance took their modified 2016 Chevrolet Camaro SS out to the Continental Tire Proving Grounds located in Uvalde, Texas. It was at this location and on this day that the Texas-based company planned on taking the car over the 200 mph. With an LT1 V8 engine that had been tuned up to 751 hp, this Camaro was more than ready for the feat.
After careful preparation and planning, Brian Smith got behind the wheel and took the car around the track. After the car gave it its all, Smith returned to the garage to announce that it had reached a top speed of 202 mph. John Hennessey then notes that this is the first time a 2016 Camaro SS has reached over 200 mph.
