Who says futuristic technology can’t look good?
As announced on the Google+ Page for Google Glass March 24, the software filled eyewear will gain the design and manufacturing expertise of the Italy-based Luxottica Group. With a brand portfolio that includes names such as Ray-Ban, Oakley, Vogue-Eyewear, Arnette, Persol and more, they are an ideal candidate for designing the next evolution in a centuries old technology.
As the post described, “Light simple and modular, Glass introduces new functionality as your glasses get smarter – but bringing your own style to Glass is just as important.”

On Jan. 27, Google introduced their options for making Glass your own in a video on YouTube, showing a variety of people wearing one of the four titanium frames or twist on shades that the company had designed. As they said in the March 24 post, “Earlier this year, we launched the Titanium Collection, designed by the Glass team. Between frames, shades, and colors, there are over 40 different ways for Explorers to make Glass their own today… but that’s not enough.”
They hope that the Luxottica partnership will create all of the style choices needed to meet everyone’s taste.
“You’re not going to see Glass on your favorite Oakleys or Ray-Bans tomorrow, but today marks the start of a new chapter in Glass’s design. Excited?” the post questioned. “Because we are.”
