The legend of Bernie Ecclestone continues to be written every day. As the President and CEO of Formula 1, he has always had a lot on his hands, and the result is a racing series with an outstanding history. Knowing all of this, it makes perfect sense that Opus, a company dedicated to creating incredibly luxurious and definitive publications, created not a book, but a 77 lb and 850 page tome dedicated to the Formula 1 racing series. And to top it off, they created a one-off version dubbed “The Bernie,” which will sell for $1 million.
The Bernie edition is made special in a couple of ways. Aesthetically, there is a carbon-fiber, clam-shell style case and a solid silver cover. If you open up the book, you will find a signature sheet containing the signatures of 22 Formula 1 world champions, a collector’s item that will only increase in value. The buyer of this book and three of their guests will have an open-access red pass to every single Grand Prix race in the 2014 season. With this pass, they will have access to all of the pit lanes and will have the chance to enjoy tea time with Ecclestone himself.
Aside from The Bernie edition of this Formula 1 book, there will be two other versions. The silk-covered “classic” edition will have 2,500 examples created. Each will be signed by Ecclestone and will cost £2,000,  roughly $3,200 USD. The carbon-fiber covered “Champions” edition will be made 100 times, each will have Eccleston’s signature, the 22 F1 world champions’ signatures and a  £20,000, roughly $33,000 USD, price tag.
The tome contains roughly 1,200 photographs, half of which have never been seen before, and chapters all about the series and its history since the start of the Formula One World Driver’s Championship in 1959. This is a must-have for any true Formula 1 fan.
