Those who are familiar with the Porsche brand and, more specifically, with the 911, know that the model typically comes with flat six engines. This engine is the car’s staple, as is the recognizable body.

However, back in 1984, Porsche created a V8 powered 965 prototype. The engine was actually a 32-valve Audi V8 engine, which surely took some shoehorning to get into place. The purpose behind this car was for it to be a cheaper successor to the 959 supercar.

Obviously, nothing ever became of this prototype and Porsche stuck to their flat six engines.
