The report says that the production of the 918 will end next July and planned production is actually sold out through late March/early April. This comes from Andre Oosthuizen, Vice President of Marketing for Porsche Cars North America Inc. Oosthuizen said to Automotive News reporter Amy Wilson, “If that’s anything to go by, it’s probably in the last and the final straight.”
He also stated that only a few more than 30 of the 918s have been delivered globally so far, but he would not disclose how many Porsche is producing on a monthly basis. What Porsche has disclosed is that the U.S. will be the biggest market for the 918 Spyder, where it starts at $847,975 USD.
Porsche has already contacted potential buyers worldwide with promotional mailings and invitations to private events. They were also told that if they are interested in purchasing one, they will need to make a minimum deposit of $200,000 for the car.
