Sure it may have “911” in the model name, but this is not a model you’d ever be able to order from a dealership. Available at RM Sotheby’s Monaco event is an incredibly rare 1997 Porsche 911 GT1 Evolution.
This car, chassis no. GT1 993-117, is noted as being one of 14 GT1 Evolutions ever made and is the only known road-legal example of the model. But even being a road-legal car, it still has a pretty storied racing history. With 31 starts to its name, it has 13 wins chalked up, including three wins at the Canadian GT Championship. RM Sotheby’s also notes that this may be “the only ex-race car with road registration in existence”.
It will be available at the Monaco event, held at Le Sporting Monte-Carlo, Monaco, on May 14. RM Sotheby’s has its estimated price set at €2,700,000 – €3,000,000, which is roughly $2,975,000 – $3,306,000 USD at today’s current exchange rate.
