Sometimes cars are created that defy logic, but are still simply awesome.
In order to showcase the relationship between the Renault Sport race teams and the rest of the company, Renault created the Twizy Sport F1 concept. If you aren’t familiar with the Renault Twizy, its a tiny electric car that is used primarily in Europe’s cities. However, you won’t be seeing this track-ready mini-car on the road anytime soon.
This specially designed Twizy received many upgrades, in both the performance and visual departments.
Visually, the Renault Twizy Sport F1 gets a front splitter, side-pods, rear wing and a diffuser that features the rain light of a Formula Renault 3.5 car. The slick tires and wheels are the same as those fitted to the Formula Renault 2.0 single-seater.
Renault went to great lengths to implement F1-style technology into this car. If the body modifications weren’t enough to show this, then maybe the addition of KERS will. Yes, Renault went ahead and installed KERS in this car, which means it can recover some of the kinetic energy that is created under braking. KERS is a system used primarily in F1 and most recently, the Ferrari LaFerrari. This system instantly boosts power output, allowing it to reach almost 100hp and go 0-62mph in just 6 seconds. Also, the original Twizy had a top speed of 53mph, where the Sport F1 can reach 68 mph.
Like I said before, this car will not be seen on the road anytime soon as it is a concept car and will not reach production. Will Renault ever take it out on a track to give us a show? Only time will tell, but I really hope they do.
