Pininfarina Battista: The Fastest Italian Car

Pininfarina has been teasing a car codenamed the PF0 for some time, but we now know what it will be called. Introducing Pininfarina’s new Battista hypercar, which they say will be the fastest Italian car, as well as the most powerful Italian car.

That small logo on almost every classic Ferrari bears his name. Battista Farina was the baby among his father’s eleven children, so he was given the nickname “Pinin” which means small or little. His older brothers worked in the family’s coachbuilding business at the beginning of the 20th century. Their quality impressed a young Enzo Ferrari, who entrusted them with building his street-legal cars.

Enzo was a racer, he only cared about street cars as long as the funded his team “Scuderia Ferrari“. Battista legally changed his last name to Pininfarina in 1963 to separate him and his business from the somewhat common Italian last name. And up until 2 years ago, almost every production Ferrari had his signature badge on the body.

Pininfarina Teases the PF0

Now that Pininfarina has embraced an electric future, they have been teasing an electric supercar. It has been 90 years since Battista founded his empire, so the name is perfect. The concept has been known as the PF0, noting it will have zero emissions. Thanks to a press release today we know it has a name worthy of 250 mph. Horsepower has been finalized at 1,900, along with 1,696 lb-ft of torque.

CEO Paolo Pininfarina said: This is genuinely a dream come true. My grandfather always had the vision that one day there would be a stand-alone range of Pininfarina-branded cars. This hypercar will boast world-beating performance, technological innovation and of course elegant styling. For me, we simply had to call it Battista. His dream becomes reality today as we link our glorious past with the future of motoring.”
