Of the late night talk show hosts, Jay Leno has to be the luckiest. His garage might as well be one of the world’s wonders, considering its size and value. Due to his status in the automotive industry, he is also given some exclusive privileges. His latest opportunity was thanks to McLaren, who invited him out to their Technology Center. He was given a tour of McLaren’s sterile and incredibly well-organized factory. This is where the British automaker turns out one McLaren P1 per day.
After the tour, Leno was airlifted to the Top Gear Test Track at Dunsfold Aerodrome for the best part of the day: a chance to be the first person outside of McLaren to drive the P1. The parked beauty was ready and waiting for him, donning a yellow finish. Upon seeing the supercar, he said, “I’m glad I ordered it in this color.” So, Leno was actually test driving the P1 he bought. Once the car was turned on, the action began. I won’t spoil how the test drive went, but he did say that the “12c is the wife’s car now.” Be sure to watch the video below to see the F1′s successor in action.
