For those who have watched any episodes of the hit television show “Mad Men,” you know that Don Draper has great taste in many things. From his suits to his cars, the man knows how to have a good appearance. Now, some lucky bidder will be able to drive like Draper because his 1964 Chrysler Imperial is up for auction, via Screenbid.
This car is one of only 922 ever made, with less than 200 believed to be in existence today. But, as I mentioned, it’s not just the production numbers that make it special. Draper drove this car in “Mad Men” season 4 episode 3. In the episode, he drove this convertible in California as he went to visit his “real” wife.
As for specifics, it has a 413 v8 that’s mated to a 727 TorqueFlite automatic transmission. It also has power steering, power brakes, power windows and, wait for it, a power antenna for the AM-FM radio. The only thing that is believed to not be original is the red paint job, which was sprayed on 20 years ago.
This auction is set to run from June 1-15.
