It was no surprise to us that there were going to be spectacular vehicles on display at the 2013 Dubai Motor Show. We expected specialty Veyron’s, the twelfth edition of the GTA Spano, the Lykan Hypersport and many other exotics of all sorts, but nothing quite prepared us for this. Without warning, Devel, a Dubai based car company, revealed a new form of hypercar that may have required a deal with the Dark Lord himself just to design; they call it the Devel Sixteen.
According to GTSpirit, the Sixteen is far from ordinary. Living up to its name, GTSpirit.com reported in a Nov. 6 article that the miraculous supercar boasts a quad-turbo 7.2-Liter V16 powerhouse, which Devel claims will produce an output of 5000 hp. That is not a typo. 5000 hp to launch the hell-bound dagger from 0-62 in a claimed 1.8 seconds and with an absurd top speed of 348 mph. If these figures are true, then we can expect a new era for the performance of hypercars if the Sixteen sees production.

The exterior of the car is somewhat other worldly, but certainly one-of-a-kind, looking a lot like a Lamborghini Egoista merged with a Pagani Zonda Evolucion. However, the wing doesn’t seem very realistic for 348 mph, unless it was to sink down at high speeds. The rear end features what could possibly be exhaust ports that look like a fighter jet’s afterburners. While they aren’t technically functional, there’s no doubt in my mind that 5000 hp from a quad-turbo V16 will spew a flame or two with every shift.
The interior of the Sixteen is incredibly futuristic, yet luxurious. The seats appear to be pressure point adjustable and the trim, while dark in a video uploaded to YouTube by user Patrick3331 on Nov. 6, appears glossy and touched with chrome. Most appealing is the lit up circular emblem in the center, which brings to mind a possible next-generation media control of some sort.
Full detail and pricing on the vehicle is currently not available. We await the completed prototype and hope to have the chance to see it in action by next year. But until then, we’ll just lay our minds to rest and frantically dream of the sports car that took the world’s most expensive automobile show by surprise and stole the crowd.
