In the world of action-packed motorsports, there isn’t a name that carries as much success and significance as Andretti. Responsible for helping shape the industry of automotive racing, Mario Andretti is one of only three drivers to have won races in Formula One, IndyCar, the World Sportscar Championship, and NASCAR. As history proves to repeat itself, the Andretti legacy continued with Michael Andretti during his time as a team driver for Newman/Haas racing from 1989 to 2000.
The passionate team at Cauley Ferrari of Detroit is proud to present this Andretti-driven 2000 Lola-Ford B2K/00 F1 race car as part of its growing inventory of rare and exclusive automobiles. The Lola B2K is presented in the famed Texaco/Havoline/Kmart livery, which took the field at the 2000 CART FedEx Championship Series during Michael Andretti’s final year racing with the team.
Chassis HU 03 participated in 10 of the 20 races on the calendar that season, establishing success at the Firestone Firehawk 500 on the Twin Ring Motegi circuit in Japan. The former Indy race car utilized an all-carbon fiber construction with a monocoque tub and double wishbone suspension connected to inboard springs on all four corners.
Newly introduced for the year 2000, the Ford XF turbocharged V-8 engine continued the success the brand had achieved throughout its long history within the sport. In a later specification, this motor became the example engine for the CART series in 2003, which is the reason why the race car is now fitted with a display engine.
