For Polestar, sales went up when the top went down.
Polestar unveiled its upcoming new all-electric roadster at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, and the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance this past Monterey Car Week to quite the captive audience. The new model is based on the Polestar O2 concept that was first shown back in March of 2022, and the initial version of the new Polestar 6, which is expected to launch in 2026, bears lots of resemblance to the concept, especially its unique Sky Blue interior.
That initial version is the new Polestar 6 LA Concept edition, and only 500 of them will be made. For those who are hoping to get their hands on one, there’s bad news: all of the build slots have been reserved online, and the enthusiasm for the new sports car represents a new era for electric cars that speaks to timeless open-top sports car performance, and customers can’t wait for that era to begin. In the meantime, however, Polestar is sticking to its plan of launching 4 new electric cars in 5 years: the Polestar 3, the brand’s first SUV, is debuting in October 2022, the Polestar 4 SUV coupe is coming in 2023, and the Polestar 5, a 4-door GT based on the Precept concept car, which will launch in 2024. The Polestar 6 now fulfills the brand’s prophecy with its 2026 launch.
