In a press release issued by Porsche today, the German automaker announced their plans to produce the Mission E project unveiled in September. When it hits showroom floors, it will be the first 100% electric Porsche ever created. Dr. Oliver Blume, Chairman of the Executive Board, Porsche said in the press release that this is "beginning a new chapter in the history of the sports car." In order to make this happen, Porsche will be investing 700 million euros in their main site at Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen. Additionally, they will be created more than 1,000 new jobs. The car comes with a power output of over 600 hp and can achieve a 0-62 mph run in under 3.5 seconds. While that's not as quick as the Tesla Model S and its various modes, expect there to be more performance-oriented variants of the Model E. "With Mission E, we are making a clear statement about the future of the brand," said Dr. Wolfgang Porsche, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Porsche AG. "Even in a greatly changing motoring world, Porsche will maintain its front-row position with this fascinating sports car." (Source: Porsche)
