Ducati is known for manufacturing some of the most advanced motorcycles in the world, outperforming competition and pushing the two-wheeled sport to its limits. Now, the high performance motorcycle manufacturer has created a new, lightweight, limited-production superbike that will have enthusiasts talking right up until it’s sold out: the 1199 Superleggera.
The superbike was born from the design of the beloved 1199 Panigale R, the 1198 cc L-twin consisting of quad-valve cylinder heads with a spine chilling 200 hp and 98.8 lb-ft of torque at 11,500 rpm. The Superleggera takes its performance further with Brembo brakes and a carbon fiber body, alongside a carbon fiber rear sub-frame and aluminum exhaust.
Ohlin suspension and a World Superbike qualified chain ensure the rider receives a full track feel on the streets or on a course. The superbike also boasts many other racing spec qualities, such as high performance two-ring pistons and an optional Race Kit that adds 5 hp while shaving off another 5.5 lbs of weight. Any owner of this motorcycle will have only one problem: keeping the speed down.
However, many of the buyers for this bike will be a previous limited edition Ducati owner, and they’ll only get the chance to upgrade if they can place their order in time. Only 500 of these superbikes will be produced and they’re going fast; around 150 orders have already been placed.
