Wilhelm Maybach would be proud to see how his namesake has been resurrected by Mercedes-Benz. In a press release earlier today, Daimler outlined the specifications and pricing for their two upcoming ultra-lux sedans. Now branded as Mercedes-Maybach, the brand is launching two models, the S500 and S600, which they have been unveiling detail by detail since November.. The former will use the familiar twin turbo 4.6L V8 found in other Mercedes products tuned to produce a respectable 455 hp.

Pricing for S500 starts at €134,053, or roughly $167,000 USD. For the ultimate expression of power and prestige, the S600 packs a hotter version of the S65’s V12 twin turbo powerhouse. The 6.0-liter is conservatively rated at 530 hp and 612 lb-ft of twist at only 1,900 rpm. Because the wheelbase is 200 mm longer than a comparable S-Class, microphones are used to aide in communication between the chauffeur and the rear cabin. Pricing for the top model starts at €187,841, or $233,590 USD.
With the upcoming launch of Cadillac’s LTS, the market for luxury land yachts will be more crowded than ever. Make your driver happy and sell two of yours to make room for the new S600. Stay tuned to Autofluence for updates on the Mercedes-Maybach models.
