Mercedes-Benz is pushing even farther into crossover territory with the introduction of their new Concept GLC Coupe at the Shanghai Auto Show. With tighter design cues bringing the GLE Coupe further into the compact segment, this new creation offers a taste of the future for Mercedes-Benz’s SUVs.
As a press release issued by the manufacturer today describes, the body length and its wheelbase are much smaller than the typical SUV, though when combined with large 21-inch wheels and underbody protection, it becomes a formidable off-road companion.
The rear of the car is distinctly a coupe design, though a quad exhaust and wider body stretch it out further than ever before. new taillights further narrow the features on the rear, creating a slimmer look than on any sedan or SUV yet.
As the release reports, this concept will use a V6 powerplant capable of producing an estimated 367 hp and 520 lb-ft. Mated to a 9G-TRONIC nine-speed automatic transmission, this four-seater’s engine will certainly provide quite a bit of pep for any trip.
Though still just a concept at this point in time, the Concept GLC Coupe is near-production-standard, meaning there’s a chance this car could be coming to a roadway near you in the future. Stay with us for more updates, and in the meantime, take a look through our exclusive listings below.
