Mercedes-Benz Creates Futuristic Golf Cart Concept

Golf carts at most courses are dull and simple. There is no creativeness behind them, they are there to simply do their job. But does it have to be this way? Well, maybe not for much longer.

Mercedes-Benz put together this concept golf cart to show what it would be like to cruise from hole to hole in German luxury. The concept cart was presented during this year’s Open Championship as the Vision Golf Cart. It was conceived by taking suggestions from golf fans around the world and combining the best into one vehicle.

The Vision Golf Cart has many features that aim to make your golfing experience that much more enjoyable. Here is the breakdown of the features:

  • Electric hub motors
  • Flexible solar panel to charge the electric motors’ battery
  • Heads-Up display showing the course
  • A ‘Fore’ button to alert other golfers of an incoming ball
  • A Joystick for steering that can be used from either seat
  • iPhone/iPad docking station
  • Cup-holders that heat-up or cool-down a beverage
  • Air conditioning
  • A sand bottle
  • Deployable lightning rod
  • Cup-holders (Can never have too many of these)
  • LED headlights
  • Mercedes seat controls
  • Seat heating and cooling
  • Cooler/Warmer refrigerator
  • Radio with speakers
  • Removable lightweight doors

Unfortunately, this is only a concept as of right now. But lets be honest, who wouldn’t want to cruise around a course in this cart? I reckon that I would spend more time in the cart than actually golfing. Mercedes had this to say about putting it into production: “Although the Mercedes-Benz Vision Golf Cart is only a design study so far, there are no doubt many players who would like to see the cart become reality, bringing its fresh ideas and thus more fun, more innovation and more comfort to moving around on the golf course.”
