Described as being as “sensual as a coupe – visionary as an SUV” by Gordon Wagener, Head of Design at Mercedes-Benz, in an April 20 press release by Daimler, the new Mercedes-Benz Concept Coupe SUV stands out as a unique and innovative concept.
The Concept Coupe SUV is a four-door, all-wheel drive Coupe that borrows design cues from, not surprisingly, both SUVs and coupes. The muscular wings, large wheels arches, 22-inch wheels, high beltline and ground clearance are those of an SUV, but its flat and extended roofline is as sporty as a coupe.
Its rear is styled after the S-Class Coupe, featuring a slim band of rear lights that spans from one corner to the other. This new taillight design will be utilized more often in future Mercedes-Benz models.

Under the Concept Coupe SUV’s hood is a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 that will provide the vehicle with 333 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque. This power is sent through a nine-speed “9G-TRONIC PLUS” transmission with 4MATIC permanent all-wheel drive.
While Mercedes has not given word as to whether they will put this car into production or not, it does not seem out of the question that a low-sloping SUV, even more-so than the GLA-Class, will make it into future lineups.
