Mercedes-Benz showcased what the future of autonomous driving will look like for them in a press release issued yesterday. The interior of this newly unveiled concept includes four rotating lounge chairs that allow front passengers to talk face-to-face with the passengers in the back, or swivel to face the front when manual driving is necessary.
“With this visionary interior concept we are defining the luxury of the future,” observes Gorden Wagener, Head of Design at Daimler AG. “We have achieved a symbiosis of the virtual and real worlds and realized the most intelligent solutions in highly aesthetic design.”
The interior of this concept also allows for passengers to control the vehicle in ways never imagined before. According to the press release, “The system automatically recognizes the wishes of individual occupants for information or the selection of control functions by sensor detection of eye, hand and finger movements.” Through this innovative cabin, Mercedes-Benz is hoping to connect humans with machine like never before.
Mercedes-Benz will be unveiling this new interior concept at the 2015 Consumer Electrics Show (CES), which is Jan. 6-9. Stay with us for more information as it is released.
