After years of engineering, testing and prototypes, Mercedes-AMG announced in a YouTube video uploaded August 28 that they will be unveiling the new AMG GT on September 9, 2014. This video can be viewed above.
Acting as a predecessor to the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT, the new Mercedes-AMG GT has had us on the edge of our seats as we wait for its final unveiling.
What we do know is that this new model will be powered by an AMG 4.0-liter V8 Biturbo engine, known as the M178. Everything that AMG has learned from their motorsports experience has been translated into this engine for everyday use.

Power from this engine equates to 503 hp at 6,250 rpm and 479 lb-ft of torque. Special features of this engine include the added dry sump lubrication system, instead of a conventional oil pan, and the fact that the front mid-engine is lowered by 55 mm.
While this information is amazing to know, we just can’t wait to learn everything about this new model. Stay with us as we get more information on the Mercedes-AMG GT as it is released. And be sure to check back on September 9 for the full unveiling.
