Mercedes-Benz’s most capable class, the G-Class, is getting a fresh set of updates for 2016, making it better than ever before. In a press release issued today that details these updates, Mercedes-Benz announced that all models offer up to 16 percent more power and lower fuel consumption.

The most important update made to the 2016 G-Class is the addition of the 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine in the G500 SUV. This engine is based on the V8 engines found in the performance-based Mercedes-AMG GT and C63 AMG. In the G500, this engine produces 422 hp and 450 lb-ft of torque.
As for the popular 2016 G63 AMG, the engine is now tuned to deliver an additional 27 hp, putting it at a total of 571 hp. The 2016 G65 AMG also got some attention, because its 12-cylinder engine now puts out an additional 18 hp.
To differentiate the 2016 G-Class from previous model years, there are slight visual enhancements. The new G350 d and G500 now have restyled front and rear bumpers, as well as the now standard AMG wheel arches. Mercedes has also included new paint finishes with some unique names, including solar beam, tomato red, alien green, sunset beam and galactic beam.
To really push the G-Class into 2016, Mercedes-Benz is introducing the G-Class AMG Edition 463 trim for the G63 and G65 AMG models. This adds a two-tone look to the instrument panel and designo leather seats. The door panels also now have Nappa leather in a diamond design with carbon fiber trim. On the outside, there is a stainless steel underguard, striping along the sides, a black aluminum protective strip insert and exclusive 21-inch forged wheels.
Be sure to check your local Mercedes-Benz dealerships for more information on the new 2016 G-Class models.
