Testing and development have been increased dramatically at McLaren Automotive over the past few months, all in anticipation of a single event in March: the 85th Geneva International Motor Show.

Only two months remain until the show kicks off on March 5, and McLaren plans to be ready to unveil what may be their fastest car yet: the McLaren P1 GTR. In a press release and a YouTube video posted to McLaren Automotive’s channel, both of which were issued today, the British manufacturer previewed the new hybrid machine, which has been “put through its paces across Europe and the Middle East.”
“Ahead of the start of production later this year,” stated the release, “and the start of the bespoke Driver Programme, the track-only model will make its global debut in production form at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show in March.”
They intend to ensure that the P1 GTR lives up to the title, which was first made famous during the 24 Hours of Le Mans 20 years ago. Pricing and performance details have yet to be released, but the release states that powertrain optimization and weight-saving measures have increased the power-to-weight ration by 10 percent, meaning this will be one insane car when it hits the track. This is a car designed to not sit idly.
“The McLaren GTR Program is just like the car itself,” describes the video. “It’s totally unique and built for one thing: the driver.”
