Though McLaren Racing and McLaren Automotive have both been around for decades, it wasn’t until 2010 that McLaren Automotive seriously undertook manufacturing cars on a regular basis. Since then, the marque has seen nothing but insane popularity and increasing demand, a pattern well recognized in 2014’s sales reports.

McLaren Automotive reported today in a press release that global sales increased by 21 percent, reaching a total of 1,648 vehicles delivered. Assisting this growth in sales was a growth in locations – 14 new McLaren retail locations were opened around the world over the course of the year. The first retail location was opened in June 2011, and just 3 years later there are a total of 68.
“The past 12 months have seen the launch of the 650S in both coupe and Spider form, and the first full year of McLaren P1 production,” said Chief Executive Officer of McLaren Automotive Mike Flewitt in the release, “and sees the third consecutive year of growth for the brand which is a fantastic achievement.”
In 2015, they don’t show any signs of slowing. The New York International Auto Show will see the April debut of the next model from McLaren, the new Sports Series, and there will be a limited-edition track-only McLaren P1 GTR released after the final road-going P1 is built.
