According to a March 7 article on PistonHeads.com, McLaren has halted production on the 12C model in order to better focus on the upcoming 650S supercar. The article states that a McLaren spokesman said that they are doing this in order to satisfy the first orders of the 650S.
“There’s an element of customers wanting the newest and best,” McLaren Automotive’s chief financial officer, Richard Molyneux, told PistonHeads.com. At £20,000 more than the 12C, McLaren is hoping that a younger group of affluent customers will opt for the 650S due to its new design and more powerful engine.
