It’s been nearly two decades since the Long Tail name was used by McLaren, and since the marque announced Jan. 28 that the name would be returning with a devilish 666 bhp, we’ve been anxiously waiting to learn more.
Today, a press release from McLaren has filled in those nitty-gritty details, and we couldn’t be more excited. The 675LT, which McLaren has said will act as the flagship of their Super Series, and these numbers definitely support that statement.
A heavily revised 3.8-liter twin turbo V8 will be propelling this supercar forward, creating a massive 666 bhp and 516 lb-ft to do so. Aerodynamic optimization in the styling has resulted in a whopping 40 percent increase in downforce over the 650S.
Newly developed for this Longtail is the crossover exhaust system. Made from lightweight titanium, this system further optimizes performance and decreases weight.
Full performance figures will be announced in March at the Geneva Auto Show. Until then, stay with us for more updates from McLaren.
