The race variant of one of the most recognizable exotic cars in the world has been in development for quite some time, and finally it is complete.
In a Jan. 15 press release, Lotus confirmed that the S Cup racing variant of the Elise has been completed, and orders are now being accepted. With the low-weight, high-power combination Lotus is known for, this new development has shaved 3.0 seconds off of the Elise S’s lap time on the Hethel test track. However, don’t let the impressive performance intimidate; this variant is perfectly suitable for use as a daily driver as well.
“…the Elise S Cup can be used on the track on Sunday and driven to work on Monday, such is its dual-nature character,” states the release, mentioning the car’s “fresh out of the box” appeal to drivers. It’s even prepared for additional modifications, as it was equipped with a T45 specification roll-hoop, ready for a full roll cage and competition harnesses to be added.
Total power output sees 217 hp and 184 lb-ft, with a 0-60 mph time of just 4.2 seconds. Pricing is currently set at £43,500 in the UK and €56,525 in Germany. To learn more, be sure to visit the Lotus website, and flip through the gallery below for a full view of this latest introduction.
