According to NyDailyNews.com, this car was purchased by Elon Musk for $860,000.
The name James Bond is almost synonymous with luxurious and resourceful cars. Some fans could probably name the make and model of all the Bond cars ever featured, however one is slightly more unique than the rest. The 1977 007 Lotus Esprit Submarine Car that made its debut in The Spy Who Loved Me, and has been an iconic Bond car ever since. This fully functional submarine was commissioned in the 70’s and it took around $100,000 to build, which equates to somewhere around $500,000 today. Money well spent if you ask most 007 fans.
If you can’t get enough of Bond then you’re in luck, this car is up for sale at RM Auctions. Until now this vehicle found its home in a storage room, only being let out for a few events since 1989. The auction will be taking place in London September 8th and 9th this year. There’s really no telling what the price will reach, but considering that the Aston Martin DB5 driven by Sean Connery in the “Goldfinger” and “Thunderball” movies sold at auction for $4.4 million, you know it’ll be up there.
