Debuting at the 2014 Pebble Beach event is the new Range Rover Sport SVR: the fastest, most powerful Land Rover ever.
According to a press release issued Aug. 11, the new Range Rover Sport SVR gets its accolades thanks to a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 pumping out 542 hp and 501 lb-ft of torque. This power will allow the SUV to achieve a 0-60 mph sprint in 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 162 mph. The press release also states that it lapped Nurburgring in only 8 minutes and 14 seconds.
John Edwards, Managing Director of Land Rover‘s Special Operations, said in the press release, “The Range Rover Sport SVR is a natural progression beyond the core vehicle’s outstanding on- and off-road capabilities and leading-edge design. Its exhilarating performance will satisfy a particularly demanding customer set.”

Also, for the first time ever in a Land Rover, the new Range Rover Sport SVR is equipped with a two-stage active exhaust system. Using electronically controlled valves, this system will optimize itself depending on the revs. When the revs are lower, the SUV is more refined, while at higher revs it has a more racecar-inspired soundtrack.
