When you compare the performance of Lamborghinis, you’re comparing just how incredible two mind-blowing cars are, and when car collector Mark McCann brought his Lamborghini Aventador SVJ and Lamborghini Huracan STO to Carwow to see which one does better in a drag race, it was quite clear that a good show was in store.
Even though the Aventador has two more cylinders and four-wheel drive when compared to the Huracan, the matchup is a lot closer than you might think. The Huracan features a dual-clutch gearbox, and when compared to the Aventador SVJ’s single-clutch robotized manual gearbox, the Huracan compares quite well. In addition, the Huracan STO is a much lighter car than the Aventador SVJ, which means that it can get off the line and use its power sooner.

When it came down to actually racing the cars, the Huracan won the first and second race, because the Aventador’s tires were cold, and Mark McCann slowed down before the finish line respectively. However, once the tires were warm, the Aventador beat out the Huracan in the standing race at 10.9 seconds, with the Huracan crossing the line just 0.2 seconds later at 11.1 seconds. Then, the cars did two rolling races, one in automatic gearbox mode, and one in the sportiest gearbox mode available in both cars. The Huracan won the automatic race with its dual-clutch automatic, while the Aventador simply stayed in the gear it was in, but once the gearbox was changed to the manual setting, the Aventador won again with its four-wheel drive and raw power. Both of these cars are incredibly fast machines, and definitely worth the drive, no matter which one crosses the line first.
