At the end of 2013, there was a lot of talk of Jaguar’s newest convertible sports car. Magazines and websites alike raved about the incredible styling, the perfected aerodynamics and sleek, yet luxurious, sporty look from every angle. However, the one thing everyone did not realize upon its release was the orchestra emanating from the four rounded exhaust tips, which creates beautiful ear candy. For a week, we had the honor of listening to this adrenaline filled music on a daily basis.
The outside of the F-Type was perfected, exactly as described in the last paragraph. Functional vents cover the face of the sports car while the largest rotors ever to be placed behind the wheels of a Jaguar glisten beneath the red super performance brake calipers. Ours was delivered in a gorgeous Italian Racing Red with Jet interior and Redzone Stitching. While the very profile of the sports car is clearly recognizable on its own, ‘S’ tags are placed on the grill and rear to clearly distinguish the sport trim of the vehicle.
Inside of the F-Type was incredibly luxurious without losing the car’s “fast cat” sport feel. The convertible came equipped with a climate pack that included heated seats, as well as a Meridian Premium Sound System and a flat bottom steering wheel. The performance seats were wrapped in leather and incredibly comfortable, as expected from a company such as Jaguar.
As we cruised down the streets of Saint Petersburg, Fla., we had an unbelievable sense of dominance. Heads turned and engines revved at every red light. Everyone wanted to get a photo and to hear this kitty purr. Even while sprinting from 0-60 mph in just 4.2 seconds, the F-Type wrapped through turns with no effort. Powered by a 5.0-Liter Supercharged V8 engine producing 495 hp and an 8-speed Quickshift Transmission, there is no road too challenging for the agile F-Type.
While we would like to say this car is for everyone, it simply is not. The F-Type is a sports car designed to deliver every sound, every punch and every response a driver would look for while taming the streets. The F-Type is for those who want to feel a burst of adrenaline not only when they open the throttle, but also when they decelerate and want to listen to a fine-tuned exhaust gurgle to a stop.
