The Ford Mustang is celebrating 50 years of production this year, a feat that Lee Iacocca, the original designer of the first Mustang, did not foresee happening according to the recently uploaded Jay Leno’s Garage episode on YouTube. To celebrate this momentous achievement, Leno had the legendary designer over for an interview in his garage. What makes the interview even better is that it took place in front of the very first Ford Mustang and the Mustang I(one).
Also making a stop into Leno’s garage was the 2015 Ford Mustang GT, the car that looks to change the Mustang forever. The chief engineer behind this new Mustang, Dave Pericak, brought the new pony over but mentions that this Mustang is actually a prototype and will be crushed, as do most hand-built prototypes.
Be sure to watch the video below to learn more about the Iacocca, the legend of the Mustang and the future that it holds.
