We were told that the Galpin Ford GTR1 would be able to produce more than 1,000 hp and be capable of speeds up to 225 mph, but was all of this hearsay? Were the renderings close to what the actual car looks like?
With the details in hand, I can easily say that Galpin has delivered. Not only does the GTR1 look as amazing as it did in the renderings, the power figures are out of this world.
Powering the supercar is a twin-turbo 5.4-liter V8, creating the ludicrous amount of power we were told it would. Power figures come in at 1,024 hp and 739 lb-ft of torque. However, if you happen to pump 100-octane fuel into the fuel tank, expect 1,197 hp and 887 lb-ft of torque. The GTR1 is one serious vehicle. Its 0-60 time is at 3.1 seconds according to Galpin, and it still has a top speed of over 225 mph. Connecting the car to the ground are specially made 20-inch forged aluminum knock-off wheels fitted with Pirelli P Zero Rosso tires.
The interior of the GTR1 is just as outstanding as the performance figures. A machined aluminum instrument cluster greets the driver as they take a seat in the hand-fabricated leather trimmed seats. Along with the seats, the dash, door panels and headliner are all in leather and available in the customer’s choice of color and stitching. The leather used comes from Bridge of Weir, a specialty Scottish leatherworks with more than 100 years of experience.
Only 6 examples of the Galpin Ford GTR1 are planned for production as of now, but a maximum of 24 will be built if there is demand. The price is set at just over $1,000,000.
