In 1964, the first Ford Mustang was revealed at the World’s Fair. Now, 50 years later, Ford is introducing the Mustang 50 Year Limited Edition, an homage to the car’s five decade long history.
This new limited edition Mustang was unveiled in a press release issued today by Ford. The car is based on the 2015 Ford Mustang GT, featuring a brand-new redesign of the American icon.
When customers go to pick out their 2015 Ford Mustang 50 Year Limited Edition, they will have two options. The first is the exterior color, which is only offered in either Wimbledon White or Kona Blue, two colors exclusive to this edition. The other option allows customers to choose between a six-speed manual or an automatic transmission.
“The new Mustang blends a muscular, contemporary shape with design cues that define it as quintessentially Mustang,” said Moray Callum, Ford’s vice president of design, in the press release. “The 50 Year Limited Edition adds details that set it apart from other Mustangs, while hearkening back to the 1965 original.”
Just about every option available for the 2015 Mustang comes standard with this 50 Year Limited Edition model. Other noted additions include the chrome trim on the car’s exterior, unique 50 Year badging, louvred rear quarter windows and much more
The 2015 Mustang 50 Year Limited Edition models will be among the first of the 2015 Mustangs to be built once production begins later this year. Only 1,964 examples of this car will be created, an homage to the car’s year of release.
