With the Ferrari F12berlinetta and LaFerrari being recently released, some are overlooking another Maranello-born car: the 458 Speciale.
While the 458 Speciale has many impressive modifications, one of its greatest is the increase of power in the award winning 4.5-liter V8 engine. After some meticulous tuning, the V8 produces 596 hp, cranking up the base’s 562 hp. Torque stays stagnant at 398 lb-ft. To further the power’s capabilities, Ferrari reduced the weight of the Speciale from the base model’s 3,274 lbs to 2,843 lbs. This creates a power-to-weight ratio of 4.77 lbs per hp (compared to the Veyron’s 4.16 lbs per hp) and 135 hp per liter.
