Are you feeling lucky? If not, perhaps you need more 7 in your daily life. The 4th prime number has been venerated since homo sapiens started counting. BMW launched the 7 series in 1977. It has been a luxury sedan that has served as BMW’s flagship for four decades. Many features of all new cars were first seen on the 7 Series.

Here is a short list:

  • Curtain Airbags
  • Onboard Computer
  • CAN-Bus Electronics
  • Xenon Headlights

Now that we have your attention, the latest 7 Series is just as innovative as its predecessors. The 6th generation arrived for the 2016 model year. It is the first BMW with a 3D scanner inside. It tracks the driver in order to respond to gestures instead of causing a distraction. Almost all vehicle controls can be accessed by the key, which allows the driver to walk away as it parks itself. It has active sway bars and all-wheel steering for the ultimate grip and tight cornering.

It is offered with engines ranging from an inline four, inline six, V12 and twin-turbo V8. Unlike the competition, even the top-dog Alpina B7 can be had with All Wheel Drive. With 600 horsepower available, it reaches 60 mph in 3.6 seconds with a top speed of 193 mph. It arrives with every safety and performance feature you could dream of, but the secret is hidden much deeper.

From the invention of the automobile, every full-size car has been made of metal. Either steel or aluminum and recently we’ve noticed composite panels on the upper-level cars. BMW has upset the entire industry. The new 7 Series is mostly carbon-fiber. Taking lessons learned on the i3 and i8, the 7 Series is unlike anything on the road. It has high-strength steel for the safety cage, but the carbon-based chassis is lighter and stronger than any other sedan. This allows it to have a lower center of gravity than any other full-size car. It moves, turns, and handles like something 1/3rd its size. It’s hard to describe how different it feels than anything else on the road.

The BMW 7 Series is where normal cars will be in 20 years. All the power and all the amenities pale in comparison to the solid structure and the agility it offers. A few seconds behind the wheel and you will understand what sets it apart. So click the link below to find our dealer near you and stay with us for all your BMW news.
