Engine builders have sworn by Mahle pistons since 1927. They have been inside Porsche’s most famous and powerful race cars, (including the 911 GT2 RS and now they have challenged everything we thought we knew about engine technology. In Porsche’s latest upload, we see Mahle working with Trumpf to 3D print the world’s most advanced pistons. The laser adds a thin layer with each pass, allowing for an internal oil passage to cool the ring lands. Once finished, technicians at Zeiss scrutinize each one before delivery. Although the boss for the wrist pin looks small, the reduced weight allows for higher RPM. While this process is too expensive for normal cars, it is just another way Porsche offers their customers the latest and greatest technology available. Click the link below to find yours!
