World famous Art Basel Miami Beach kicked off yesterday – and it started with a bang. According to an article from ArrestedMotion.com, the Macaya Gallery has teamed up with the Hoerle Guggenheim Art Gallery for a weeklong, exclusive live painting session in the heart of the Wynwood Art District. They call it “ARTCELERATION.”
The event launched last night with prominent graffiti artist RETNA, who was commissioned to paint a Ferrari F430 Challenge, courtesy of local dealership ASNA Motorcars. Two other participants, London-based pop artist Ben Levy and Miami’s resident painter and sculptor Edouard Duval-Carrie, will be customizing other vehicles as part of the session later this week.
Each of these cars are set to go to auction and part of the proceeds will be donated to benefit two worthy causes, the Miami Children’s Health Foundation and the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.
