Rick Hendrick, owner of the Hendrick Motorsports NASCAR team and founder of the Hendrick Automotive Group, purchased the first C7 Corvette Z06, according to an April 12 post on Barrett-Jackson’s Facebook page.
The purchase was made at the 2014 Palm Beach Barrett-Jackson event held over the weekend. Hendrick paid a hefty price tag of $1 million for the car, all of which will benefit the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Center.
During the Palm Beach auction, Hendrick also auctioned off his own 2014 Camaro Z/28, the first one ever, for $500,000, according to a April 12 article from GM Authority. All proceeds for this vehicle will benefit AARP’s Drive to End Hunger program.
If you recall, Hendrick not only purchased the first C7 Corvette, but also the first C7 Corvette Convertible. All of these purchases were made for charity, showing how generous a heart Hendrick truly has.
Congratulations to Rick Hendrick on his latest purchase. We can’t wait to see what his next one will be.
