Today on their blog, Renault pulled back the cover on the new Sport R.S. 01, which is also making its debut at the Moscow International Automobile Show today. Renault’s motorsport expertise came in handy when building the R.S. 01, as it excels in so many areas.
Powering the car is a Nismo 3.8-liter V6 capable of producing more than 500 hp and 442 lb-ft of torque. These numbers alone are impressive, but when the R.S. 01’s weight is factored in, they become even more so.

The carbon monocoque chassis weighs less than 2,425 lbs, allowing the horsepower to push the car to high speeds. In fact, the blog post notes that the car will be able to have a top speed of more than 186 mph.
Renault stated on their blog that the Sport R.S. 01 will compete in the Renault Sport Trophy championship, a one-design series that will be part of the World Series by Renault in 2015.
