For sale is a showroom new example finished in “Red Hot.” The discerning owner has logged zero miles on the odometer and has even refrained from starting the engine. This car is number 27 of the 69 built, and was ordered with every option.
As a true tribute to the 1969 cars, this COPO was ordered with the 7.0L (427ci) LS7-based engine, which is conservatively rated at 430 HP. Chevrolet Performance hand-builds each engine at the Racing Powertrain plant in Wixom, Michigan. The transmission is an ATI Racing Turbo 400 using their indestructible SFI approved Super Case. It is controlled by the classic Hurst Quarterstick shifter. Out back is a Strange 9” spool with 35 spline axles. The interior is Spartan, having only two racing bucket seats. Staring at the driver is a 5” Autometer tachometer emblazoned with the Chevrolet bowtie. Gone are the radio and climate controls. Taking their place is a COPO specific switch panel with controls for fuel, ignition and cooling fans.
Each COPO Camaro was hand assembled by a dedicated team. This car is NHRA certified to 8.50 and has the optional wheelie bars that have never been mounted. Several COPO posters, a car cover and the 5-point racing harness are included, along with the documentation/build sheets. The number of times this car has been outside can be counted on one hand, and it deserves to be the centerpiece of your collection.
