Those who qualified for the BMW Championship, the top 70 players in the FedExCup, were provided with a car for the week by BMW. When Rory McIlroy was asked what he’d like to drive, he opted for the new i8.
BMW sat alongside McIlroy for a drive and interviewed him, asking about his career, the i8 and his life. The video of the ride-along interview was uploaded to YouTube by PGA TOUR’s channel yesterday, Sept. 4. Check out the video above to see what McIlroy thinks of the new BMW i8.

The BMW i8 is an incredible car and a great change of pace for the automaker. It clocks a o-62 mph run in 4.4 seconds, and can go from 50 to 75 mph in 2.6 seconds, thanks to its plug-in hybrid system. This system consists of a three-cylinder gas engine with TwinPower Technology that produces 231 hp and 236 lb-ft of torque, and a hybrid synchronous electric motor that is good for 131 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque. BMW will be limiting the i8’s top speed at 155 mph.
