Oscar-winning actor, Christian Bale, who was set to play the lead role in Michael Mann’s tentatively titled film Enzo Ferrari, has backed out of the role amidst health concerns.
According to Deadline Hollywood:
The shape-shifting actor is stepping aside after health concerns over the weight gain necessary to play the iconic carmaker….The start date of spring this year was simply too soon for the Big Short actor to get that out of shape again.
Mann and the production team are now tasked with finding another leading actor before production is set to begin in spring 2016. Set in 1957, the film will survey a critical year in Ferrari’s life. It will focus on the intimate details–the passion, hilarity and heartbreak– of the life of the iconic motor racing driver and entrepreneur. The script is based on Brock Yates’ Book, Enzo Ferrari: The Man, The Cars, The Races, The Machine.
