On Saturday, March 15, cars of all years, makes and models headed out to the duPont REGISTRY headquarters in St. Petersburg, Fla for our monthly Cars & Coffee event.
The duPont REGISTRY Cars & Coffee happens the third Saturday of each and every month, starting at 7 a.m. and going until 9 a.m. Admission is free and guests and owners of all ages are welcome. Those looking for a morning boost can indulge in a cup of coffee from Melita.
At our Cars & Coffee event, hundreds gather to view the cars and sometimes you run into neighbors, coworkers, friends or even long lost friends. Below is a touching story that was emailed to us after the March event about a long lost friendship being rediscovered at the event:
“Saturday I overheard someone mention about flying helifcopters in Viet Nam, so I asked him and he said he was a crew chief. But he said there are two ex-helicopter pilots here, so we hunted them down and he introduced me.
It’s funny – we had been talking for a few minutes and it dawned on us both about the same time, “Hey, wait a minute. I know you!” We just hugged and I had tears in my eyes. It had been almost 50 years!
Joe and I started Army flight school together in 1966 when I was 19 years old. We went through all the trials and tribulations together until graduation at Ft. Rucker a year later in the same class. We had a good, close group and everybody knew everybody. But I was never sure if Joe made it alive through that following year in Viet Nam – many of our class didn’t.
What’s the chances? If it hadn’t been for the DuPont Registry Cars & Coffee, Joe & I would never have crossed paths.
Thank you and please keep up the great work!
Best regards,
Jim”
