Since his 2008 appearance during the Opening Ceremony of the Beijing Olympics, Lang Lang’s piano recitals have grown in popularity, inspiring listeners with his intimate display of sound. His soundtracks have been sold to millions worldwide, and while he may not be the most well-known musician in the States, he is followed by many in Asia.
The latest thing to bring him into the spotlight, however, was not music, but musically inspired. Lang Lang ordered a special edition Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse, pulling the wraps off himself at Bugatti’s Molsheim factory in Château St. Jean. The Vitesse was made special through Lang Lang’s own personal touches, making the super-exotic into a dream car for any musician.
The paint consists of a white base with black lacquered pieces and a gold trim on the fuel cap and wheel hubs to give it a special touch usually reserved for pianos. To continue the Beethoven style inside, the leather upholstery is white with black stitching to replicate the appearance of a sheet of music. The steering wheel is also trimmed with gold plating, however, Lang Lang’s gold signature on the center console may be considered far more valuable, and an exquisite touch.
Lang Lang’s Vitesse brings creativity and inspiration to a whole new level. It directly reflects the musician and his innovative spirit on levels that go beyond the fuel injected music notes emanating from the exhaust. We give the musician, and Bugatti, a standing ovation.
