The BMW X1 has been selling well across the globe, but in one country, BMW has noticed an incredible amount of success. In China, the German manufacturer states in a press release issued today, that they have sold 200,000 X1’s, with approximately 140,000 of them coming from the local Tiexi plant. Seeing the amount success the X1 has had and knowing what their Chinese customers want, they have introduced the long-wheelbase X1.
Introducing a longer wheelbase model, the wheelbase has been made…longer, by 3.14 inches. Because of this additional length, BMW says that the knee room for the second-row passengers is “particularly generous.” As for its boot capacity, it ranges between 12.4 cu-ft and 23.8 cu-ft, depending on which position the rear seat bench is in.
As for model options, the long-wheelbase X1 is being offered in either the sDrive18Li (136 hp), sDrive20Li (192 hp), xDrive 20Li (192 hp) and xDrive 25Li (231 hp).
If you’re looking to get a long-wheelbase X1 and are not located in China, it looks like you’re out of luck. That being said, if it sells well we may see it coming to our seas.
