This year marks BMW’s 50th year in Italy, and BMW Italia teamed up with Garage Italia Customs to commemorate the historic year. Together, they created the BMW i8 Futurism, which embodies the future of the company and the incredible artistic work of Giacomo Balla.
According to a company press release, they specifically chose a member of the i series because the iconic line represents the visionary and technological advancements BMW has made over the years. The i8 Futurism includes a futuristic, color-blast finish designed by Italian artist, Giacomo Balla. The car will follow the BMW 328 (the 328 will be driven by BMW President and CEO, Sergio Solero) in this year’s Mille Miglia 2016. Of the i8 Futurism, Solero states the vehicle, “represents the pairing of a sports car of the future with Italian creativity and art.” He further explains Garage Italia Customs was the perfect company to collaborate with as they are “one of the best specialists in car customization.” Congrats to BMW on their 50th year in Italy!
